The New Our Canada

24 January 2011, 14h23
Hello dear Our Canada members,

In the spirit of kicking off a new year, Our Canada will be embarking on a new adventure. Later this week, you'll notice a few changes to the website as we move over to the Reader's Digest site. While some features will change, you will still be able to upload images, send in your stories and comment on your favourite photos and articles. We welcome you to browse the new site when it's up and running and explore it. We also welcome you to join our Facebook fan page (if you haven't already) so you can discuss with other fans, upload even more images and get the latest updates on what's new in the Our Canada community. You can also use the Facebook page to give us your feedback and let us know what you think.

Note that unfortunately, this means that the current community site will be going offline in the near future. Please make sure to download any images or videos you'd like to keep.

We hope you enjoy the new Our Canada. Looking forward to sharing more with you in the future.

Best,
The Our Canada Team

So does this mean we will be losing all our contacts and the ability to send them messages, etc???  Will all the photo albums and our blogs be gone too???  Will we still be affiliated with CanoeSpace???

I think the current OUR CANADA site is perfect and I am not looking forward to the new one on Readers Digest... I find their (Readers Digest) site to be too commercialized with long wait times trying to navigate throughout to various pages, etc...  This will be a sad day for the online Our Canada site in my opinion...

Sincerely

Linda

I agree with Linda!!  I sure hope we keep our names, contacts and be able to send messages!!!  Will we need to reregister?  I don't like the sounds of this at all.  I like how things are right now.

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, this does mean the community will be closed at the end of February. Private messages and user profiles will be closed, but we welcome you to upload and comment on photos, articles and blogs on our new site, as well as on our Facebook fan page.

Please check out the new site later this week and do send us your feedback. It is always much appreciated and we will certainly do our best to accommodate you. We truly value your continued support of Our Canada.

When and where do we sign up for that one?  Will you be letting us know the day?

So does this mean there will be no more CanoeSpace either???  At the end of February we just lose touch with all the friends we've made on this site???  What happens to all the photos we have downloaded here - will they be transferred to the new site????  Will we use the same user names as we do here so we can recognize each other???  I have heard from most of my contacts and they feel the same as I do about these upcoming changes... no one seems very happy about it...

As well as being an active member here I also subscribe to Our Canada and More of Our Canada magazines, and I think both are great.  But I also found this site great and I will miss it very much!!  I truly hope the new one will be as good...  Please keep us all informed as to what is going on.

Thanks, Linda

Do you want us to delete our Recipes, photos, profile, etc.?  Or will they be deleted when the site is closed?

Will the video uploading capabilities be improved? I find it very frustrating to attempt to up a video only to have it time out or not up at all and then I cannot delete the file off my account to start over.
